Sorry for the short notice everyone; this is next week. Please make
your appointment as soon as you can.
Executive Summary: There will be a blood drive at MIT from Monday 7/13
through Thursday 7/16, in La Sala in the Student Center. The drive will
run from 1pm to 6pm every day except Tuesday when it will run from 10am -
3pm.

Please allow me to begin by thanking everyone who took the time to
donate or volunteer at our May drive.
There will be a blood drive at MIT from Monday 7/13 through Thursday
7/16, in La Sala in the Student Center. The drive will run from 1pm to
6pm every day except Tuesday when it will run from 10am - 3pm.

It's the summer! that means lots of donors are away from the schools
that generate a lot of the blood supply in our area. Come donate!
Bring a friend!
The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To make
an appointment, fill out the form at:

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.
We can always use more volunteers to help out during the drive to get
people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're encouraged to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. No previous experience is
necessary to volunteer. All these efforts are important to the
drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
blood-drive-coordinators@mit.edu, and someone will reply to you
shortly before the drive starts.
Blood Donation Factoids:
* Drink extra fluids before your donation. You can begin to drink extra
fluids the day before your donation. Water and juices are great, but
try to avoid a lot of caffeine.
* Red blood cells last 42 days, plasma is good for up to one year, and
platelets only 5 days.
