I just wanted to remind everyone that there is a blood drive at MIT, on
Monday and Tuesday of next week.

There are still plenty of appointments available: http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

We could also use more volunteers to help staff the drive (it's easy!): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QtieaVPtRmZnj-X1REugShQfoFZTXAF0X7oxrZ7-BRk/

Thanks for helping to save lives!

Subject: Blood Drive at MIT...11/24 and 11/25

Executive Summary: There will be a blood drive at MIT on Monday 11/24
and Tuesday 11/25, in La Sala in the Student Center. The drive will
run from 8pm to 6pm both days.

Please use http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/ to make an appointment
for faster service.

Hello,

Please allow me to begin by thanking everyone who took the time to
donate or volunteer at our September drive. We did slightly (but only
slightly) better than our previous two drives, with 184 units of blood
collected. On behalf of the Red Cross, thank you for saving lives, but
now that everyone is back on campus we should be able to do better.

There will be a blood drive at MIT on Monday 11/24 and Tuesday 11/25, in

days. Please use http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/ to make an

As we enter the holiday season, it is especially important that a
sufficient blood supply is maintained. Please give someone else
something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week, by donating blood.

The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To make
an appointment, fill out the form at:

	http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.

We can always use more volunteers to help out during the drive to get
people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're encouraged to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. No previous experience is
necessary to volunteer. All these efforts are important to the
drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
blood-drive-coordinators@mit.edu, and someone will reply to you
shortly before the drive starts.

Blood Donation Factoids:

  * Meat, fish, sunflower seeds, and dark-green leafy vegetables are
all high in iron, and can be eaten on a regular basis to raise
    your blood-iron level.

  * A heart transplant patient, on average, will need four to six
    units of red blood cells.

other words, feel free to forward, but please don't spam people on our
behalf. If anyone wants to get on our mailing list they can check the
appropriate box when making an appointment, or fill out the form at
