I wanted to let everyone know that the blood drive has been relatively
quiet the past two days. Today is looking a little better, but there
are still some walk-in spots available (more of them in the mid-to-late
afternoon). There are also a number of both appointment and walk-in
slots for tomorrow (which is the last day of this drive.)

Hello,

Please allow me to begin by thanking everyone who took the time to
donate or volunteer at our November drive. We collected over 250 units
of blood. On behalf of the Red Cross, thank you for saving lives.

There will be a blood drive at MIT from Monday 5/12 through Thursday,

Please use http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/ to make an appointment
for faster service.

If you're graduating but staying in the Cambridge area, please consider
adding a new email address to our mailing list. You can do this either
by checking the appropriate box when making your appointment, or at any
time by visiting http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/email.html

The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To make
an appointment, fill out the form at:

	http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.

We can always use more volunteers to help out during the drive to get
people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're encouraged to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. No previous experience is
necessary to volunteer. All these efforts are important to the
drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
blood-drive-coordinators@mit.edu, and someone will reply to you
shortly before the drive starts.

Blood Donation Factoids:

  * Wear comfortable clothing. Wear clothing with sleeves that can easily
be rolled up above the elbow, as well as something that you will feel
comfortable in while on the table during the donation process.

  * Patients who benefit most from transfusions of red blood cells include those
with chronic anemia resulting from disorders such as kidney failure,
malignancies or gastrointestinal bleeding and those with acute blood loss
    resulting from trauma or surgery.

If you want to forward this message, feel free as long as you are
sending it to a friend, or to a list for which it is appropriate. In
other words, feel free to forward, but please don't spam people on our
behalf. If anyone wants to get on our mailing list they can check the
appropriate box when making an appointment, or fill out the form at
