Subject: IEMS 6 Provides New Options for Microsoft Exchange Sites Looking to Migrate to Linux

PRESS RELEASE

IEMS 6 Provides New Options for Microsoft Exchange Sites Looking to Migrate
to Linux

Hong Kong, August 27, 2002 - As a result of growing demand from Microsoft
Exchange administrators for a Linux alternative, IMA has released version 6
of its Internet Exchange Messaging Server (IEMS) with added Calendaring and
Scheduling features and Microsoft Exchange migration tools.

Release 6 of IEMS is a groundbreaking release for IMA. Like the original
IMA Gateway products, which were industry leaders in terms of essential
features found nowhere else, V6 provides unique product differentiation in
several key areas. Microsoft Outlook users can now continue to use their
Calendaring and Scheduling features with a Linux backend solution. New
Microsoft Exchange migration tools make the move to IEMS straightforward.

In addition to running on all major Linux and Microsoft Windows operating
systems, IEMS 6 also adds additional user and administrative security
features. It provides for the privacy of confidential data through TLS
(SSL) support for POP3 and IMAP4 connected mail clients as well as for the
administrator web-based tools.

Tim Kehres, IMA president said "The most feedback we have been hearing from
existing and prospective customers is for a Linux based alternative where
users can continue to use their Microsoft Outlook client without loosing
Calendaring and Scheduling capabilities. The recent release of IEMS 6 adds
these capabilities to an already feature rich messaging environment."

Additional information regarding IMA and IEMS 6, including a free 15-user
promotional version can be found at the IMA web site.

Subject: Guikachu 1.3.1 "Homeless in .org": GNOME Resource editor for PalmOS
Date: 30 Aug 2002 00:10:11 GMT

Dear users of both large and small computing tools,

A new development release of Guikachu is available.

About Guikachu
==============
Guikachu is a GNOME application for graphical editing of resource
files for PalmOS-based pocket computers. The user interface is
modelled after Glade, the GNOME UI builder.

Catch it all from http://cactus.rulez.org/projects/guikachu/

Features
========
 * Uses GNOME-VFS, you can load files from anywhere, e.g. from the
   Web, from an SMB share, from a tarball.
 * Exporting to PilRC .rcp files
 * Support for non-PalmOS PilRC targets (like the eBookMan)
 * String and string list resources
 * Dialog resources
 * Menu resources
 * Form resources
 * Per-application resources (e.g. version number)
 * WYSIWYG Form Editor, with drag & drop capability and visual resizing
 * XSLT style sheets and shell script to generate RCP files from
   Guikachu documents
 * Sample file with sample GNU PalmOS SDK-based application
 * Documentation (a complete user's manual)

About these releases
====================
This release is part of the 1.3 development branch, so it's all about
crazy experimentations and nto about providing a polished, well-tested
product -- so don't quite replace your 1.2 Guikachu just yet.

New features and improvements:
        * Fixed property editor race conditions introduced in 1.3.0
        * Files from the command line are loaded again
        * Table dimensions are correctly exported for PalmOS 3.5+
        * New standalone guikachu2rcp executable to replace XSLT-based
          one
        * Multi-line property editor for labels
        * GNOME-VFS-based I/O, allowing you to open Guikachu files
          from the Web and more

Guikachu uses GTKmm and GNOMEmm for its user interface. I/O is
implemented via GNOME-VFS, the XML storage format is managed with the
libxml package. Dialog windows are loaded via libglade. GConf is used
to store user preferences. You will need the versions of these
packages available in the GNOME 1.4 bundle (with the exception of
GNOMEmm which you will need to upgrade to version 1.2.0).
To actually create the PalmOS resource files, you will also need PilRC
(part of the GNU PalmOS SDK) to compile the .rpc files produced by
Guikachu.

Beware of bugémons!

From: Hal Burgiss <multignometerm-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>
Subject: Multi Gnome Terminal 1.6.0
Date: 30 Aug 2002 00:10:18 GMT

Announcing: Multi Gnome Terminal 1.6.0

About:

Multi Gnome Terminal is an enhanced version of gnome-terminal,
with many powerful new features and extensions. The most notable
enhancement is the ability to run multiple terminals within the
same window. Each terminal may be accessed by it's "Tab", through
keyboard shortcuts, or menu selections. Non-active terminals alert
that the buffer has changed, or is changing, with color changes on
the Tab labels. Other enhancements: toolbar; buttonbar; flexible
Command options to launch new terminals, tabs and shells from
either the GUI or command line; highly customizable key bindings
for MGT functions and other uses; shading and tinting; greatly
improved Class handling (aka 'profiles'); font shadowing; the
ability to "split" terminals so that each Window can have multiple
terminals; terminals may be "viewed" or "bonded" with other
terminals; and various other improvements.

Enhancements in this release:

* There are two configuration Classes now: Window Class and Tab
  Class. Each Tab can have its own preferences for many things
  such as fonts, backgrounds, etc. This gives much greater
  configuration flexibility.

* Font handling improvements including support for pseudo-graphics
  characters (like xterm), and some support for proportional
  fonts.

* Preference options now for utmp, wtmp, and lastlog logging.

* 'URL Handling' now works with raw IP addresses (Ctrl-MiddleClick
  can launch a user defined application with IP address as
  displayed in terminal window as argument, eg traceroute or whois).

Bugs fixed:

* Silencing bell did not silence bell ;-)
* Using ESC sequences to create Tabs, etc could crash MGT.
* Various other bugs (see ChangeLog)

ToDo:
* GNOME-2 support (next major release probably, currently only
  GNOME 1.x is supported)
* Anti-aliasing support (sometime)

Subject: Announce iBackup 2.11
Date: 30 Aug 2002 00:10:21 GMT

iBackup simplifies backing up the system configuration files (/etc).
You can run the program from any directory, it will by default save
the (maybe compressed) tarball to /root. It is possible to encrypt
the tarball, to upload the tarball to some other host and run this
backup automated in a cronjob.
