This is the first release of a new manual. Currently it is only
available as PostScript. If there is demand for it, the tbl/pic/troff
-mm source will be made available, too. In an ideal world, you would
not need this user guide because you already would have got a decent
manual when you bought your computer, which probably has a floppy drive.
But as a matter of fact, usually you get nothing at all. From the
beginning of the document:

----------

                     The floppy user guide

    Michael Haardt (michael@cantor.informatik.rwth-aachen.de)
                Alain Knaff (Alain.Knaff@imag.fr)
               David C. Niemi (niemidc@clark.net)

                            Abstract

This document is intended for people interested in details about floppy
drives, e.g. the interface bus, data recording, logical structure of
data on the floppy and more. The connection to Linux is made where
applicable to show how floppies from other computers can be accessed or
how and why it is possible to put more data on a floppy.

----------

Any response is appreciated. In particular, more entries for the format
table would be helpful. The user guide is available per anonymous ftp
from cantor.informatik.rwth-aachen.de, pub/linux/floppy.ps

Have fun reading many interesting things about your hardware!

Michael
