Program To Include Full-Day Track Of Sessions And Half-Day Tutorial
DECUS '95/Washington, D.C. will feature a special technology track on Linux,

group of UNIX-experts interacting over the Internet.
The DECUS '95/Washington, D.C. Linux track will present attendees with the
unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the Linux operating system
directly from chief architect Linus Torvalds, Linux users, and those
connected to the Linux community. DECUS will also provide up-to-the-minute
information on the porting of Linux to the Alpha processor.
Linux at DECUS '95/Washington, D.C.
On Wednesday, May 10, DECUS '95/Washington, D.C. will feature a full day of
sessions for Linux users and those who are interested in learning more about
the Linux operating system. Sessions will range from the introductory to
writing device drivers and will cover topics including: Linux on Alpha; the
Debian Linux distribution; publishing in the Linux market; GUI programming
in Linux; and much more. Linus Torvalds will present the track keynote
"Linux: Past, Present, and Future."
Linux sessions will be open to all attendees registered for the symposium on
Wednesday, May 10. DECUS will also offer a special Linux/Trade Show
registration package for this day. Registration for this special Linux
package is only $40.
On Thursday, May 11, Torvalds will present a half-day tutorial on the "Linux
Kernel." This tutorial will cover various implementation issues in the Linux
kernel, with a more detailed overview of the kernel process, memory, and
file system management. Attendees are expected to be aware of the basic
concepts and problems of operating system design, and be familiar with terms
like "race condition" and "deadlock". Attendance does not require previous
contact with kernel-level programming.
A separate registration fee of $99.00 will be charged for admission to the
"Linux Kernel" tutorial. Attendance in this tutorial will not be covered
under any other registration fee.
