i have uploaded to sunsite (it'll be in
ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/Incoming/ until it gets moved to its
proper place):

    ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/utils/shell/trash-1.0.tgz
    ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/utils/shell/trash-1.0.lsm

below please find the Linux Software Map entry and an excerpt from the
README file.

i made `trash' after accidently deleting some files between backups,
and i've used it ever since--it's saved my teeth more times than i can
count on one hand. perhaps the community can benefit as well.

peace.

DESCRIPTION

`trash' provides a simple trashcan facility for the shell command
line. `trash' ``deletes'' files by moving them to a ``trashcan''
directory, which defaults to `$HOME/.trash'. `trash' can manage a
user's trashcan with `--view' and `--empty' commands.

LIMITATIONS

--Does not work well for directories or symbolic links on a different
  filesystem from the trashcan directory.

--Does not provide a facility to prompt the user when emptying the
  trash (coming soon?).

--Cannot trash files recursively (like `rm -r').
